Maxxis SuperMaxxTouring Tyres.

Well I managed to put some miles on the Maxxis SuperMaxx Touring tyres as I had to go out. I had a medical emergency, a boil on my bum, but I won’t go into that.

I had to ride to London and my journey was made in horrendous wet comditions. Heavy rain with near-freezing temperatures met me when I backed the bike out of the garage.

I had geared up for the worst after waking to the sound of rain thumping the roof. Layered up and with AlpineStars waterproofs on, I turned the bike on, switched the heated grips and seat on, engaged first and pulled away from home. 90 miles of riding ahead into the centre of London.

The Maxxis tyres omly had 30 miles on them from being fitted so still in the breaking in stage. This meant I was cautious riding with new rubber on slick surfaces and kept the speed down. Visibility was also shit, as the Highways agency deems it better to save money cutting lighting on roads than users safety.

Although I restricted my speed and kept to fairly upright cornering the Maxxis perfoemed well in the conditions. I felt the grip was there and if I had of pushed it they would still keep me on the right line. This was proved on my return journey which fortunately was dry, although still in darkness as the sunset took place as my journey out of London stopped and started. Traffic was as bad as I have ever found it in the city and drivers equally awful. Sadly I still experienced drivers squeezing in while I was filtering, or not checking before

manoeuvring, and mainly mot paying attention to any other road user apart from themselves.

Back to the tyres, with drier conditions I tested the Supermaxxs harder and I was impressed. Braking from speed was controlled with good grip, higher speed cornering good and stability the same. No complaints So far. 180 more miles on them now but still need to be worn in properly, so keep a lookout for more of my thoughts.
