The Desirable Ducati XDiavel V4
Ducati has created a highly desirable and delightful Cruiser with its XDiavel V4. The 2025 model has a punchy performance that stimulates the senses and looks like a work of art.
Initially, the Ducati XDiavel V4 could be considered a beautiful naked sportsbike, and in many ways, it is. But with its brawny shape drawing many admiring looks, the bike is a highly rapid Cruiser.
The Ducati XDiavel V4 produces 168 hp and delivers this power while you sit in supreme comfort.
The original Diavel V4 launched in 2023 had excellent handling, agility and grip, giving the rider massive confidence to exploit the bike's full potential. The 2025 XDiavel V4 takes on all these attributes, although it has a longer wheelbase, which slightly alters the handling at low speeds and on roundabouts.
Mechanically adjustable 50mm forks and shocks deliver a magnificent ride, and ground clearance is never an issue. Your riding position is with feet forward on the pegs, and you have to stretch a tad to the bars, but you are upright and comfortable. The Pirelli Diablo Rosso tyres provide glorious grip, allowing you to push the bike through the twisties.
The saddle is luxurious and well-fitting, so your posterior sits in place and remains comfortable even after a full day of riding. The 770mm seat height is low, so nearly every rider can plant their feet at stops, and the low centre of gravity provides confidence at slow speeds.
The gift you get with the Ducati XDiavel V4 is the engaging engine delivering 166bhp. Acceleration is beautifully brutish, but as soon as you get over 70 mph, the wind effect kicks in and you are fighting to keep your head straight. Winding the throttle open still feels terrific, and having all that power on tap is a delight. Most riders will not push the Ducati XDiavel V4 to its full potential and will keep it at cruising speeds, which it is more than happy with. If you do want to play a bit harder, the bike has plenty of rider aids and modes, along with smooth power delivery and throttle response, so you always feel in control.
“A delightful, desirable Ducati.”
You get a colour display and plenty of rider aids, such as keyless ignition, cruise control, and full quickshifter. A 6.9-inch widescreen display is packed with functions and is a bonded display, like a smartphone, for crispness and to reduce glare.
The Ducati XDiavel V4 has four riding modes, Sport, Touring, Urban and Wet, allowing you to adapt engine delivery and riding assistance intervention.
Sport Riding Mode
With this Riding Mode, the V4 Granturismo unleashes its full 168 hp with a direct, spirited response. Ducati Traction Control and Ducati Wheelie Control intervention are reduced to a minimum, and the ABS, set to level 2, allows for controlled lifting of the rear wheel to maximise braking performance while retaining the Cornering function. This is the ideal choice for expert riders who want to enjoy the performance of the XDiavel V4.
Touring Riding Mode
In Touring Riding Mode, the XDiavel V4 still unleashes its full 168 hp, but delivery is smoother and more progressive. Higher DTC and DWC intervention levels make the vehicle more controllable. The ABS is set to level 3, the safest and most prudential, thanks to rear-wheel lift detection, optimisation of the combined braking, and the active Cornering function.
Urban Riding Mode
In Urban Riding Mode, power output is reduced to a maximum of 115 hp (Low Power Mode) with a particularly gentle and progressive response. DTC and DWC are set to high levels, while ABS is set to level 3.
Wet Riding Mode
Wet Riding Mode is designed for riding on low-grip surfaces or in the wet. This mode limits maximum power to 115 hp with a gentle throttle response (Low Power Mode). The predefined level of the electronic controls is set to offer maximum safety, ensuring the best possible traction and stability.
Ducati has gone all out to make the XDiavel V4 stand out from its other models, to the extent that it comes in a colourful and magnificent metallic candy apple red rather than the traditional red. If that is too extreme for you, it comes in black, too.
The Cruiser look is delightful, and the whole design is captivating; this combined with potent performance is a heady mix to attract buyers.
The bike is expensive, even for a Ducati, but you get two machines in one. A comfy, casual cruiser when you want to take it easy and chill along on rides, and when you want to increase the velocity, it can behave like a track day bike.
The Ducati XDiavel V4 can perform like a sportsbike and take on twisties with a secure confidence, and it provides a relaxed riding position to enjoy long cruises at slower speeds. If you own a V-twin XDiavel, you will love the lighter, better handling, technology-packed, and more comfortable V4 drawing you to upgrade to the 2025 model. The same attributes will also attract buyers from all over the spectrum. I would be one if I had the finances.
