The VW Passat had a reputation for being a solid reliable car favoured by salesmen.  It’s much more spacious estate version has been taking on the more popular SUV models like the family car of choice.

Verdict 

For a family estate, the Passat ticks all the boxes for fuel efficiency, safety, space, comfort and power.  It isn’t going to satisfy anyone looking for an exciting ride but that’s not really who it was designed for.  

The car could benefit from a rear parking camera but the parking sensors serve their purpose well enough.  

For families looking for a spacious alternative to an SUV, the VW Passat Estate is a great choice all round, giving you a lot of car for your money.
