London 27 July 2022 - Zapp Electric Vehicles Limited (Zapp EV) has opened the order books on the i300, the world's first electric performance city bike. The i300 combines the thrill of motorcycle dynamics with the convenience and accessibility of the step-through form factor, becoming the first city bike to offer riders the best of both worlds.
The i300 Zapp EV has created a zero-compromise full-cycle solution for urban riders. The i300 takes the concept of sustainability beyond merely being emissions-free. It uses a pollution-reducing whole vehicle architecture that includes: low component numbers, low battery cell numbers, eco-friendly composites instead of plastic, and low micro-plastic emission materials.
This innovation in design and dedication to introducing sustainable methods of production and materials to the motorcycle industry means the Zapp i300 has already won two prestigious awards: Silver at the European Design Awards and Gold at the MUSE Design Awards.
The i300 made its first public appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed recently, where it ran up the iconic Goodwood hill climb route in front of thousands of spectators. British company Zapp EV is on a mission to redefine the EV motorcycle segment; the run up the Goodwood hill for the i300 was just the beginning of its exciting journey. The i300 is the first in a suite of high-performance electric motorcycle products designed and engineered to engage and thrill the rider in the modern urban environment.
The world's first Exoskeleton chassis for an electric motorbike is at the centre of Zapp EV's new architecture, creating the company's low-component lightweight design language. Included in the range of top-specification motorcycle parts on the i300 is pre-load and rebound adjustable pushrod rear suspension via a single-sided rear swing arm, upside-down front forks, full floating cross-drilled front disk, four-piston radial mounted calliper, dual-channel ABS, and ultra-low-profile tyres. This is coupled with a British-made high-performance interior permanent magnet (IPM) low voltage electric motor with a peak power of 14kW and breath-taking 587Nm of torque at the rear wheel.
The resulting i300 offers outstanding performance and dynamics along with gen-2 sustainability. Its lightweight alloy and composite bodywork reduce total weight to 92kg (without batteries). Its IPM motor and carbon fibre belt drive accelerate the i300 to 30mph in 2.2s and onto its L3e-A2 limited top speed of 60mph in 4.8s.
The unique combination of the i300's friendly nature with high-performance credentials means it appeals to all urban bike riders, from new riders upgrading from their first bike to more advanced riders looking to downsize in their move to EVs, as well as bikers returning from cars and mass transit.
Zapp EV's dedication to lowering the bike's weight and batteries is key to its virtuous circle solution. Each of the two standard battery packs weighs just 6kgs each and has a footprint of around two MacBooks™; they can be taken everywhere and charged in any 110/240V domestic socket and charged from 20-80% in just 40 minutes using the fast charger. The total range of 60kms* far exceeds the 9kms average European urban commute. Other batteries and chargers are available to buy.

To fit perfectly into an urban rider's lifestyle, i300 offers many unique and fun innovations. Customers can swap out the front fenders and seats for different colours by ordering new ones online. Also noteworthy, and on a more practical front, under-seat storage is interchangeable and modular; the smaller version is over 25 litres, and the larger is 37 litres, along with a storage rack that can fit varyingly shaped and sized cargo such as backpacks. This can extend the ownership of an i300, with longevity being an overlooked part of sustainability.
Zapp EV CEO Swin Chatsuwan said: "The Zapp EV i300 isn't just another lowest-cost electric commuter, it's a high-performance city bike designed to satisfy the needs of both serious motorcyclists and new riders alike. It is not only high-technology but also accessible and great value-for-money."
"As a city bike we know owners will be riding i300 on a daily basis, it is 'part of their wardrobe'. That's why we invested as much into original design, new premium materials, high level of personalization, to make i300 fun to buy and own. With the i300 Zapp EV has created something truly desirable for a market that is looking for something beyond normal and ordinary."
This year, six iconic British colours are offered for the front fender and three seat colours. Other unique options available include
wheels with colour options, including luxury diamond cut;
bodywork in NONA-carbon composite, NONA-natural composite, or ocean recycled plastic;
modular-interchangeable under-seat storage; and
accessories that compliment i300 and its on-vehicle options.
The i300 can be purchased now directly through Zapp EV's e-commerce platform: zappev.com, with four versions to choose from:
i300 Carbon Launch Edition (non-carbon composite bodywork, from £7,995)

Zapp EV operates an advanced direct-to-customer (DTC) experience called DSDTC (Drop-ship-direct-to-customer): once a customer orders their i300 online, it is then conveniently delivered directly to their home by "Zappers" in dedicated and liveried green plug-in hybrid (PHEV) service vans. Zappers also provide at-home inspection and support throughout vehicle ownership.
As part of Zapp EV's full-stack e-commerce platform, customers will have access to highly competitive leasing and insurance solutions on a one-stop-shop basis, providing access to i300s from as little as £99 per month* and with a low deposit.
Following its appearance at Goodwood Festival of Speed, Zapp EV will soon announce dates when prospective customers can get up close to the i300 and book test rides at standalone boutiques and pop-up stores in London, New York, Paris, Milan, Seoul and Bangkok.
