Intelligent Helmets From Quin, Protect And Much More.

I have long thought helmets should have integrated communications systems like pilots have had for many years. Quin Design has taken up the move to create an Intelligent helmet range which allows you to pair with your smartphone via Bluetooth.

I am reviewing the Quin Design Spitfire Nero with its built in speakers and Bluetooth.

During the following weeks I will be feedbacking my thoughts on the helmet and all its functions, such as being able to take phone calls while riding, playing your own music from your Smartphone and a significant plus is getting directions from your phone right into your ears through speakers you cant even feel or see.

The Spitfire Nero looks impressive and feels awesome on. It is lightweight and fits like the proverble glove.

The link below takes you to the UK government website which states the standards that are required to sell Crash Helmets in the UK.

All three models of helmets that we sell (Spitfire, Umbra, Ghost Double Zero) in the UK are ECE 22.05 approved.

The Ghost Double Zero and the Umbra are also DOT approved which is a US approval making these dual certified.

The helmet comes with internal sun visor easily operated from a slider on the left of the helmet. Also on the left is the control centre for taking phone calls, volume up and down and pairing with phone. Charging the helmet is simple through a USB cable supplied. The connection sits sweetly within the helmet rim and you tug a little red tie to release it.

Watch this space for updates. I will be using the Spitfire Helmet from tomorrow Januuary 23rd 2021. Feel free to leave comments below. Jez

The helmet hasn't been tested by Sharp yet. Sharp ratings are typically led by demand from consumers as their testing is carried out based on user submissions. The great thing about this test is that any consumer can submit a request for any brand and any model of helmet they produce. We would of course encourage anyone who wants to do so to submit a request on their website and hopefully one of the Quin helmets gets selected for their next batch of testing.

Here is the link to submit a request for testing:

All the Quin helmets are equipped with universal bluetooth so they will connect to any other device that also has this connectivity available.

Quin has a UK rider who has provided positive feedback to advise that their pairing with a Tom Tom Rider was successful and that they were able to listen to the turn by turn navigation through the helmet.

Regarding connectivity to the BMW bike, we aren't able to test every model of bike for compatibility but essentially if they can pair another 3rd party device to the bike then in theory the Quin helmets will also be able to pair.

The two Carbon models, the Umbra (£599) https://www.headyhelmets.co.uk/collections/quindesign/products/quin-design-ghost-umbra and Ghost Double Zero (£599) https://www.headyhelmets.co.uk/collections/quindesign/products/quin-design-ghost-double-zero are available in stock in the UK and ready for immediate dispatch.

Currently we are running our January sale so there is a saving of £80.00 until the end of the month. Current sale price is £519.00. We also offer free delivery and size exchanges.

Quin is working on a modular helmet that will be available from March approximately in the UK.
