Volkswagen UP GTi

The Volkswagen UP GTi Hot Hatch

The Volkswagen up! GTI has been turning heads up and down the country,  but is it worth the £18,055.00 price tag?

Whether you’ve just finished your manual driving lessons with NxtGen Driving Academy and you’re looking for your first car or you’re a seasoned driver looking for an economical runaround, you will find a lot to love about the up! GTI.

Perfomance

Although it might be a small vehicle it is fair to say that the Volkswagen up! GTI really packs a punch in the performance stakes. With a 1-litre turbocharged petrol engine that offers an impressive 200 torque and 113 horsepower. Although this might not seem all that powerful to many of you, when you consider that the car only weighs, you will 1060 kilograms, you will see just how impressive that feat actually is. It makes driving lots of fun, and squeezing into small spaces much easier than it might be with a bigger vehicle,  which is no bad thing to think about.

Running costs

These days, having a car that you can fill up cheaply is not as easy as it should be, but if you opt for the Volkswagen up! GTI in 2022, you will find that filling your tank is not as big a burden on your wallet as many people are experiencing.

In fact, the up! GTI gets around 53.3 miles per gallon thanks to the turbocharged engine. As if that wasn’t enough, you can also expect to pay no more than £155 in road tax in the first year, due to the fact that this little car has a low emission rate.

When it comes to ensuring, most Volkswagen up! Models fit nicely into groups 2 or 3, which means they are incredibly cheap to have insured, another plus point for new drivers.

Extras and accessories

The Volkswagen up! GTI comes with a number of nice accessories as standards including heated sports seats which are generously roomy despite the small size of the car, and great for keeping you cosy when driving in winter, A GTI gear knob, Bluetooth USB ports and a smooth DAB radio. It might not have a standard infotainment centre, but for the price it is not bad, and the Bluetooth capability enables you to connect your phone seamlessly with the car.

The boot is a generous 251 litres, which means it’s just a litrl ebit smaller than the boot of a Suzuki Swift, so unless you’re planning to take everything including the kitchen sink with you on your drives, it should be adequate enough for most everyday situations.

In terms of style, the up! GTI is hard to beat. Exquisitely stitched, the upholstery would not look out of place in a much more expensive vehicle than this one.

Conclusion

If you are a new driver looking for their first car, or someone who is looking for a small, economical runaround that packs a punch, then the Volkswagen up! GTI is the perfect vehicle for you.
